Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 Day 2 Recap
New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 Day 2 Recap
Day two of New York Fashion Week had some really great designers and just as many incredible looks. Some magnificent trends are already starting to take shape and you can almost call yourself an expert after reading my Day 2 recap. Not to Boast or anything… There was a series of sixties inspired color-blocked dresses, bold jacquards with bejewelled pleated skirts, and a slew of harnesses and semi-kink wear.
If you’re anything like me I know you are interested in the harnesses and they were fifty shades of cray-cray. BCBG Max Azria went a little on the dark side and stole the show with a medley of fabrics and styles in a darker undertone. The looks were strappy and slim but there was definitely a side dish of sexy served up spicy hot! I have been a fan of this collection for the past few seasons and though the Spring 2013 show wasn’t as strong as the previous seasons, it was still enjoyable to see. The question is… “Will it do as well in the stores as the previous lines?”
AS for the colorblocked and swirled sixties inspired looks, Lisa Perry took sheath dresses and pop art to the next level. Wide silhouettes and buns atop heads made the collection seem fresh and funky with a serious edge. Regardless of what Lisa was going for, the end result has a cohesive message to force into your retina’s and deliver to your brain… The Sixties are BACK!
Though subtlety wasn’t present at the Spring 2013 Lisa Perry line it seemed fine because of the exceptional use of white space amongst the vivid colors of grass green, sky blue, banana yellow, and fresh orange. Whether the stars and moons were to symbolize something, the exaggerated prints looked strikingly like pyjamas and not as much like a traditional… anything. Which was also kind of endearing.
And then there was Creatures Of The Wind… I am not sure what to say about this collection other than… Duh-What? Please allow me to elaborate. There were unique and well put together pieces on the runway however the styling lost me completely and made the line look like a vintage hodgepodge of incisiveness and an amalgamation of visually nauseating prints but then some seriously beautiful jacquard tapestryesque textiles that leave you… confused to say the least. The seaming and styles on many of the individual pieces was incredible and spot on while other times were a complete miss.
So overall day two of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was full of thick beautiful tapestry fabrics, sixties inspired mod wear, and kinky straps and harnesses! Try rolling that together in an outfit. I dare ya!
Welcome to my blog, hope you Enjoy!
